(Houston, TX) — The Houston Texans received a big blow to their wide receiver corps today when former Iowa St. standout Jayden Higgins has been diagnosed with a torn ACL and is out for the season.
Higgins suffered the injury during Houston’s joint practice with the Las Vegas Raiders — he ran a routine play in a drill towards the end zone and went down awkwardly. He did not get back up immediately but eventually limped off under his own power.
Last season as a rookie, the second round draft pick from ISU appeared in all 17 games, starting 10 of them and had 41 receptions for 525 yards and 6 TD.
The Texans will now rely on another former Cyclone Jaylin Noel who had 35 catches for 292 yards and 2 TD last season. Ironically there is a third former Cyclone on Houston’s roster — Xavier Hutchinson had 35 receptions for 428 yards and 3 TD in 2025. There is also veteran Tank Dell who is coming off a serious knee injury and did not play all of last season. Both Dell and Noel have not played much during camp coming off of injuries.
