(Denison) Jury selection is scheduled to begin Tuesday morning in Crawford County District Court in the trial of Chad Eugene Gibbs Jr.
Gibbs faces one count of first-degree murder and two counts of child endangerment in connection with the January 2025 death of his infant daughter, Genevieve Gibbs. He has pleaded not guilty.
Jury selection is scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m.
Authorities allege Gibbs caused injuries to Genevieve, who was less than one month old when she was hospitalized following an incident at the family’s home. She later died.
The child’s mother, Sarah Lembke, was initially charged in the case, but that charge was dismissed in December 2025 after prosecutors said additional evidence did not support the allegation against her. Lembke has since been subpoenaed to testify in Gibbs’ trial.
The case has been pending since early 2025 and has included several delays and pretrial proceedings.
