(Green Bay, WI) — Former Iowa Hawkeye TE Luke Lachey will be looking for another chance in the NFL after getting cut on Tuesday by the Green Bay Packers.
Lachey was originally drafted by the Houston Texans in the 7th round in 2025 and spent the whole season on the practice squad. The Texans released him earlier this year and Green Bay signed him quickly. However, they waived him two days later after he failed his physical. He was resigned on June 15 in plenty of time for camp but he continues to deal with foot and ankle problems. He was in a boot at Monday’s practice and Green Bay cut him on Tuesday.
To replace Lachey, the Packers re signed 26 year old MaCallan Castles who was with Green Bay’s practice squad last season and was released earlier this year.
After redshirting his first year at Iowa in 2020, Lachey played in 13 games with three starts in 2021 for the Hawkeyes and had eight receptions for 133 yards
