(Griswold, IA) — Fall sports officially start today with the first day of practice for girls tennis and for football teams that play in Week Zero like Griswold. The Tigers will open on August 21 hosting East Mills, coverage on KSOM.
Griswold is coming off a 1-8 season and Head Coach Seth Lemke has decided to make some changes on his staff — he says the Tigers have struggled some on the defensive side so he has shuffled the deck and given up his duties as coordinator
Lembke says the kids came in during the summer on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for weights, conditioning and they went through some drills. He says there was good attendance and returning a solid core of players outside of two seniors. Lembke says there have even been some surprise standouts from some players
Junior Dain Laverty comes into practice as the quarterback but Lembke is keeping his options open. He says setting the starters on the line on both sides of the ball will be a priority
Griswold has 9 games on the schedule and will play in 8 Man District 9 with Ar-We-Va, Audubon, CAM, Coon Rapids Bayard, and Glidden Ralston. They open at home against the East Mills Wolverines on Friday, September 21, coverage on KSOM.
