Gerald Jameson, 62, of Kimballton, Iowa, passed away with family by his side Friday, July 17, 2026, in Grand Ridge, Florida.
Gerald Eugene was born on July 6, 1964, in Atlantic, Iowa, the son of Richard Clyde and Ines Louise (Murphy) Jameson. Gerald grew up in Lewis and lived in group homes in Glenwood and Shelby; a resident of the Glenwood Resource Center for 52 years. While there he worked in the mailroom and making deliveries to the offices for 20 years. If you couldn’t find Gerald in his room or a gathering area when you visited, it was your best bet to start looking around outside as he was likely out riding his bike.
Gerald looked forward to spending time with family at picnics and various outings he went on during his home visits. He overcame a lot throughout his life and he made the most of it, content with what he was provided. Gerald loved people and if he met you once he never forgot, at times not seeing someone for several years and knowing right away who they were.
The more noise the better! He always had the radio on and loved the sound of loud trucks and motorcycles. Any motorcycle, camper or jeep along the way instantly caught his eye! Gerald was a sports fanatic, any sport would do but baseball; football and basketball were his favorites. ROOT, ROOT, ROOT FOR IOWA, GO HAWKEYES! If sports weren’t on it was a sure bet he had it changed to the old western channel, especially if Hopalong Cassidy was on. Anytime you asked Gerald where he wanted to eat you almost knew before you asked—Mexican it was.
Gerald’s happy go lucky personality will be missed by his siblings, Terry Smith of Atlantic, Gary (Paula) Jameson of Lewis, and Larry (fiancé, Janet Carpenter) Jameson of Atlantic; step-siblings, Vicky Ericksen of Kimballton, Lonnie Lollie of Kimballton, Richard (Kim) Lollie of Florida, and Mark (Tiffany) Jameson of Corning; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Jameson; mother, Ines Jameson; step-mom, Francis Jameson; brother, Jimmy James Jameson; sister-in-law, Tammy Whiley Jameson; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Erickson.
Visitation with the family present will begin at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 29th at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Lewis. To honor Gerald’s love for the Iowa Hawkeyes please wear your black and gold! Following services at the cemetery you are invited to the Lewis Community Center for lunch, on the menu is Gerald’s favorite meal, Mexican!
Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation to Caring Hearts of West Central Iowa in Carroll, Iowa.
Roland Funeral Service in Atlantic, IA and McAlpin Funeral Home in Sneads, FL are caring for Gerald’s family and his arrangements. Condolences may be left at www.rolandfuneralservice.com.
