(Clarinda) The Clarinda Police Department is pleased to announce the successful completion of Project Optic Edge, an initiative to enhance officer safety and improve public protection through the modernization of the department’s duty handguns.
As part of the project, every department-issued Glock duty pistol has been upgraded with a red dot optic (RDS) and weapon-mounted tactical light. These enhancements provide officers with improved target acquisition, greater accuracy under stress, and increased visibility in low-light situations, ultimately improving their ability to protect the citizens of Clarinda.
This project was made possible through the generous support of the Clarinda Foundation, which awarded the Clarinda Police Department a $6,600 matching grant. The Foundation’s investment in public safety demonstrates its ongoing commitment to strengthening our community and supporting those who serve it.
“We are extremely grateful to the Clarinda Foundation for its generous support of Project Optic Edge,” said Chief Keith Brothers. “Their partnership has allowed us to equip every patrol officer with modern technology that enhances officer safety and better prepares our officers to respond effectively in critical incidents.”
