Study: Agriculture Supports One in Four Jobs In Iowa
(Des Moines, IA) — A new study shows agriculture supports one in four jobs in Iowa. Ben Murrey of the Common Sense Institute Iowa says research also shows the ag economy is responsible for one-third of the gross domestic product in the state. The study examines all industries connected to Iowa agriculture, including manufacturing, finance, transportation, and trade. Murray estimates ag supports roughly 534-thousand jobs in the state this year, and will produce more than a trillion dollars in economic output through 2030.
City Of Carlisle Has Running Water After More Than A Week Without, Boil Order In Place
(Carlisle, IA) — The City of Carlisle has running water again, after more than a week without. The city’s water tower emptied after a water main break on September 30. Pressure was restored Thursday morning, but there is a boil order in effect until water quality tests come back clean. The City asks everyone to flush their plumbing by running faucets, first cold water then hot, and then running washing machines and dishwashers. Any water for consumption should be boiled for two minutes first.

(Des Moines, IA) — A new study finds Des Moines is one of the most optimistic cities in the country about artificial intelligence. Online platform Blink ranked 100 mid-sized cities on their AI-optimism using data on the number of AI-related job postings, recent job growth, technology and AI employment, and local search interest. The study ranks Des Moines eleventh overall due to a growing workforce and clear local interest in how AI will be used at work. Des Moines is the only midwest city in the top 20.
