Joe Murphy with the Iowa Business Council says despite rising costs and inflation, Iowa business leaders expect strong sales and increased demand over the next six months. Despite the positive projections overall, Murphy says IBC members believe attracting and retaining a quality workforce is the top challenge for businesses.
Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds Issues Disaster Proclamation For Four Counties
(Des Moines, IA) — Governor Kim Reynolds has issued a disaster proclamation for four Iowa counties in the aftermath of severe storms. The disaster proclamation includes Jasper, Osceola, Polk and Story Counties following severe weather starting on June 29th. It activates the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program and the Disaster Case Advocacy Program and allows state resources to be used in recovery efforts. The proclamation takes effect immediately and will remain in effect for 30 days unless terminated early or extended.
Former Iowa Physician’s License Has Been Revoked, Allegations Of Misconduct With Young Female Patients In CA
(Des Moines, IA) — The Iowa Board of Medicine is revoking the license of a former physician accused of inappropriate conduct with young female patients in California. Dr. Najeeb Khalil Ahmed Ansari is accused of behaving inappropriately with several girls between the ages of 11 and 17 before performing genital exams at a clinic in Fresno. A report from the Iowa Capital Dispatch says Ansari agreed to surrender his license in California and pay more than 130-thousand dollars to the Board for investigation costs. Iowa regulators say Ansari didn’t report the California discipline or cooperate with an investigation, leading to the revocation of his license to practice in Iowa. During his time in Iowa, Ansari practiced medicine in Coralville and Ottumwa.
Corndog Kickoff Iowa State Fair Fundraiser Planned For July 11
(Des Moines, IA) — One of the Iowa State Fair’s biggest fundraising events is happening this weekend. The annual Corndog Kickoff is Saturday. Hosted by the Blue Ribbon Foundation, it features live and silent auctions, entertainment and classic fair food. Study: Reports of Vandalism, Property Damage Down in Iowa
(Undated) — A new study finds reports of vandalism and property damage are falling in Iowa. Insurance comparison website iSelect looked at the number of reported incidents in Iowa between January and April of this year compared to the same period of time last year. The comparison finds the number of reported acts of vandalism and property damage fell 15-percent this year. The study also identified the top cities in Iowa for vandalism reports, with Des Moines and Davenport taking the top two spots.
