(Des Moines, IA) — Some of the haze in the sky right now in Iowa, Missouri and Eastern Nebraska is dust from the Sahara Desert. National Weather Service Meteorologist Andrew Ansorgee .
He says the fine dust moves through the atmosphere much the same as smoke does and a meteorologist’s model shows a plume of Sahara dust pushing up through Missouri into Iowa, Eastern Nebraska, and Western Illinois. If it rains, it is possible some of the dust will come down with it as dirty rain and leave Sahara Desert dust drops on cars and homes.
