(Atlantic) Registration is open for the second annual “Burger Battle” grill-off at the second annual “Freedom Festival” at Sunnyside Park in Atlantic on July 4. Committee member Spencer Walton says the “Burger Battle will be held from 5:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
Walton says that a year ago, three teams competed and presented high-quality hamburgers made with local beef, and it went over well. He noted that all three teams added a different flair to their finished product.
Walton says there are many different ways to make a burger and toppings to choose from, and that is what they want to see.
The Cass Cattlemen have set a deadline to enter the ‘Burger Battle” at 3:00 p.m. On June 26. Although Walton mentioned that if someone misses the deadline and still wants to enter, they will not be turned away.
Meanwhile, the entire event runs from 5:00 p.m to 9:00 p.m., highlighted by a Fireworks display at the Bike Farm at dark.
Along with the “Burger Battle, the event includes pony rides, face painting, and the National Guard will be bringing in some vehicles, and possibly a rock wall. Additionally, there will be food trucks, a pickleball tournament, and a wing-eating contest that replaces the hot-dog-eating contest.
