(Des Moines) KSOM/KS95 News Director and KS95 Sports Director Tom Robinson has been named the 2026 Iowa Broadcaster of the Year by the Iowa Broadcasters Association (IBA) at the annual convention Tuesday at Prairie Meadows in Altoona.
The Iowa Broadcaster of the Year Award recognizes an Iowa broadcast professional for their excellence in broadcasting, who has made a major contribution to Iowa broadcasting, had a positive impact on their station/company operations, and made a significant contribution to their local community. This award is open to Iowa station Executives, Managers and On-Air Personalities.
Robinson has served the southwest Iowa region through KSOM/KS95 Radio for the past 27 years. KSOM/KS95 General Manager and 2025-2026 IBA President Bill Saluk praised Robinson’s dedication to local broadcasting and community service.
Saluk said Robinson does it all, from covering breaking news whenever and wherever it happens, attending city council meetings, providing severe weather coverage, broadcasting Atlantic High School sports, serving as master of ceremonies for numerous community events and team banquets, and reporting on issues important to the region’s agricultural industry.
“In a world of constant change and turbulence, Tom is truly a unicorn and very worthy of the Broadcaster of the Year award,” Saluk said.
Robinson said he was deeply honored to receive the recognition. He thanked his entire team at KSOM/KS95 Radio, the station’s listeners, members of the community, and his family for their continued support.
An open house celebrating Robinson’s achievement will be held Thursday, June 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the KSOM/KS95.7 studios, 413 Chestnut Street in Atlantic.

KSOM/KS95 Radio also received additional recognition during Tuesday’s convention. Associate News Director Mandy Billings earned first-place radio awards for her Oct. 21 evening newscast and in the Breaking News category for her coverage of a house fire in Atlantic in November 2025.
