(Des Moines) A Flood Watch is in effect from 7:00 p.m. Friday through 7:00 a.m. Saturday for Adams, Fremont, Mills, Montgomery, Page, Ringgold and Taylor counties.
The National Weather Service says thunderstorms from Thursday afternoon into this morning produced areas of two to four inches of rainfall, with locally higher amounts across the watch area. Additional thunderstorms are expected tonight with the potential to produce two to four inches of additional rainfall over the watch area, particularly over portions of Southwest Iowa. There remains uncertainty on where the heaviest rainfall will set up. A small shift north or south with the band of heaviest rainfall is possible.
Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Low-water crossings may be flooded.
The weather service says to monitor forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
