(Des Moines) Another round of severe thunderstorms rolled through west central and southwest Iowa on Sunday night, bringing significant rainfall and severe wind gusts, with reports coming from both cooperative observers and personal weather stations across the state.
On Sunday morning, Mount Ayr recorded measurable rainfall, totaling 5.50 inches for the 24 hours, according to a CO-OP observer in Ringgold County.
Later in the day, strong thunderstorm wind gusts were reported in multiple locations:
- 7:48 p.m.: A gust of 62 MPH was recorded 3 miles east-southeast of Rodney in Monona County.
- 8:33 p.m.: Missouri Valley in Harrison County reported a gust of 65 MPH.
- 9:16 p.m.: Oakland in Pottawattamie County recorded a gust of 60 MPH.
- 9:19 p.m.: Henderson in Montgomery County experienced the strongest reported gust at 72 MPH.
Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for nearly all of western Iowa on Sunday night.
