(Audubon, IA) — Audubon’s baseball team — coming off a 6-16 record in 2025 — has a lot of uncertainty coming into the new season. Head Coach Eric Borkowski says some kids that were expected to play did not go out for the team so there will be players learning new positions. On the mound, Borkowski will rely on two veterans — Sophomore Jorgen Nowatzke and Senior Brody Schultes (.281 batting; 3.87 ERA pitching) has the most experience coming back
Schultes will play mostly in center field when he is not pitching; Nowatzke the same for shortstop; Borkowski says he still has a battle going between three players for catcher; he is impressed with two freshmen — the Miller twins, Dalton and Dawson
Schultes and Walker Vetter are the Wheelers only two seniors; Borkowski has penciled in a starting line up for opening day but he has told his players be ready to change spots; he has been focusing heavily on the fundamentals in practice
Audubon is scheduled to open today at West Central Valley then host Griswold tomorrow.
