(Des Moines) The National Weather Service says an active weather pattern will bring several rounds of thunderstorms and the potential for severe weather across portions of Iowa from today through Monday. Forecasters say western Iowa faces an enhanced risk level of 3 out of 5 for severe weather both today and Monday.
According to the National Weather Service, storms are expected to develop in South Dakota this afternoon before moving into western Iowa between 8 and 9 p.m. The storms are forecast to continue through mid-morning Monday.

Additional thunderstorms are expected to develop again after 4 p.m. Monday, bringing the threat of damaging winds, large hail, heavy rainfall, and possible tornadoes. Forecasters also warn that repeated rounds of storms could lead to flooding across parts of Iowa.
