(Clarke County, Iowa) Authorities in Clarke County confirmed two young girls drowned Friday evening near Woodburn, according to KCCI.com.
Deputies responded to a call around 6:15 p.m. regarding two children in White Breast Creek. The girls, ages 7 and 10, were located in the creek between Fox and Elm streets, east of 310th Street.
Officials said the girls were recovered from the water before a rescue team arrived at the scene.
The identities of the victims have not been released, and investigators have not yet said what circumstances led to the drownings.
