(Des Moines) Landus Cooperative recently announced its “Excellence in Agriculture” Scholarship award winners. The area recipients include Lauren Comes, Atlantic High School Graduate, and Lane Elmquist and Brody Weber, both Audubon High School Grads.
The Landus Cooperative Excellence in Agriculture Scholarship provides $2,000 to each student who receives the award. Students were selected based on their overall academic achievements, leadership, and dedication to their rural communities.
Sarah Heineman, Director of Community Engagement at Landus Cooperative, stated, “Each of the students selected has demonstrated a deep commitment to building on the strong agricultural roots of our state. We’re proud to support them as they begin their academic journey and look forward to seeing their impact on our industry in the years to come.”
Lane Elmquist, a graduate of Audubon High School in Audubon, IA, will pursue a degree in agricultural studies at Iowa State University, focusing on agricultural business, animal science, and agronomy. Lane’s commitment to understanding and improving agricultural practices reflects a deep passion for the industry.
Brody Weber, also from Audubon High School, is continuing his education at Iowa State University, where he will study biology and animal science. Brody’s academic interests and dedication to the field demonstrate his drive to advance animal health and sustainable agriculture.
Lauren Comes of Atlantic High School in Atlantic, IA, will study agricultural business at Des Moines Area Community College before transferring to the University of Wyoming. Lauren’s path reflects her ambition to combine business acumen with agricultural expertise to support the industry’s growth.
To be eligible for the Excellence in Ag Scholarship, recipients must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher, plan to pursue a degree in agriculture or the life sciences, and have an applicant or their guardian who is a voting member of the cooperative in good standing. These awards are part of Landus Cooperative’s ongoing commitment to championing rural communities. The scholarship program is just one of many ways Landus Cooperative partners with communities to ensure the future of agriculture remains strong and sustainable.
