(Adair Co.) The Adair County Board of Supervisors approved a request from the All Iowa Republican Women’s Club to read the Declaration of Independence on the courthouse lawn this summer.
Heather Boustead told the board that, in an effort to promote patriotism ahead of the 250th anniversary of the United States, the club is visiting various county courthouses to read the Declaration of Independence. She said they would like to assemble a group of women on June 19 from approximately 12:45 to 2:15 p.m.
Boustead said this event will be held rain or shine.
In other business, the Supervisors approved a bid from Gus Construction in the amount of $171,260.60 for the W26 Prussia culvert project. They also approved signing the final voucher for the N11 Lincoln bridge project.
Additionally, the board approved a request from County Engineer Nick Kauffman to hire an engineering intern for the summer, starting May 18, at $18 per hour. The Supervisors also approved the resignation of the Veterans Affairs Assistant and agreed to begin the hiring process to fill the position.
And, the board approved the low bid from Marquardt Electric for the Grandstand Electrical.
