(Greenfield, IA) — As we reported yesterday, Skip Eckhardt is the new football Head Coach at Nodaway Valley. He has been coaching football for 45 years including the last two seasons at Shenandoah which he stepped away from recently. However, after Jack West left the Wolverines to become the Head Coach at Logan Magnolia, a former student of his called him and convinced him to hold off his retirement
Eckhardt started coaching in 1981 at Crestwood and then went to Schleswig where he won five conference titles plus the 1984 state title. He returned to Crestwood in 1993 and then began a journey across the state with stops at North Tama, South Page, Davenport Central, North Scott, Davenport North, AGWSR and then Shenandoah. This is not his first rodeo — has gone through rebuilding jobs before and he says this will be no different
Eckhardt says there is one thing that keeps him coming back to the coaching ranks
Joining Eckhardt at Nodaway Valley is another veteran coach Randy Schrader — the two coached together at several places.
