Mrs. Norma Wise, age 101, of Atlantic, IA, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at the Heritage House in Atlantic, IA.
The daughter of George and Olga Kummerfeldt was born August 22, 1924, in Calumet, Iowa, where she grew up and graduated from high school. Her graduation from Buena Vista College with a 2-year teaching certificate led to ten years of teaching in the elementary grades. Norma’s marriage to Marlin Wise took place on July 30, 1950. During this period of 46 years of marriage, she was a teacher, farm wife, and active in the motel business. Norma’s love of life was her family, church, friends, and involvement in the family business and participating in organizations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson Seth Fisher, son-in-law Mark Fisher & daughter-in-law Tammy Wise.
Surviving are a son, Kelly Wise of Atlantic, a daughter, Lori Fisher of Arlington, Texas; 2 granddaughters, Sara Mathew and Mariah Fisher, and 2 grandsons, Austin Wise and Keaton Wise.
Memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Atlantic, IA, with a luncheon following in the reception hall of the funeral home.
An interment will take place at Atlantic Cemetery in Atlantic, IA.
