(Atlantic, IA) — The Atlantic Girls Golf team is not scheduled to hit the course again until this Thursday. The Trojans are coming off a confidence boosting win last Thursday at Whispering Woods in Council Bluffs. Senior Makenna Schroeder led Atlantic with a 40 and says the key was keeping the ball straight — Schroeder leads the team with a 9 hole average of 42.50 and she says she has been able to improve her game as the season has progressed
Schroeder says she did not play much golf until she got to high school
Freshman Maddie McLaren is 2nd on the team with a 48 average for 9 holes; another Freshman Hope Hammontree is third with a 50 and Senior Neveah Fewson is 4th with a 51.50. Before playing in Council Bluffs last Thursday, the Trojans were at Willow Creek Golf Course in Des Moines and Fewson liked playing at both venues
Fewson says she has been working hard on her shots off the tee
Atlantic will be at Nishna Hills this Thursday hosting conference rivals Lewis Central, Red Oak and Shenandoah.
