(Guthrie Center, IA) — The Guthrie County Supervisors are planning on adding a Budget Amendment to FY2027 and also approved the engineering five year plan.
The Amendment will include money not budgeted in the engineering department, the public health department which includes storm shelters and radios for emergency preparedness, the sheriff’s department for jail meals which will be covered by out of county revenue, and for the supervisors budget $125,000 for attorneys fees. The original amendment was for $7.5 million but Supervisor Mike Dickson wants that number reduced
The number settled on was $4 million so the overall approval of the Amendment was tabled to put together a more formal proposal. The supervisors did set a public hearing for the budget amendment for Tuesday, May 19 at 9 am.
The supervisors also approved the FY2027 Iowa DOT budget and the County Engineer’s five year program. Supervisor Brian Johnson would like to see one project considered for the future
Ultimately the timing was not right to add that project right now so Johnson withdrew his motion and County Engineer Josh Sebern says it could be added if they could find the finding.
Sebern did say that patchwork had begun on the P28 project but they are still in the early stages.
