(Spencer, IA) — A driver of a motorcycle is in serious condition after an accident near Spencer, IA on Thursday at 12:02 pm. According to the Iowa State Patrol, 65 year old Gerald Faulkner of Spencer was on a 1956 Harley Davidson motorcycle and collided with a 2016 tractor trailer truck in the median of US Highway 71 and US Highway 18. The truck — driven by 52 year old Kenneth Arthur Goerg of Cedar Rapids– was turning east on 320th St. when the motorcycle that was going north on US 71 collided with the trailer. Faulkner was dragged under the trailer until the truck came to a stop. Goerg was uninjured and the truck drove away from the scene unscathed. Faulkner, meanwhile, was not so fortunate and was transported to Spencer Hospital and then flown to Sioux Falls. The accident remains under investigation.
