(Red Oak) A Red Oak woman was transported to the hospital following a two-vehicle accident Thursday morning.
The Red Oak Police Department says the accident happened at around 9:36 a.m. 96-year-old Carolyn Glassinger, of Red Oak, was driving a 1992 Buick Century and stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of 8th Street and Highway 34. Glassinger stated she looked both ways but did not see a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox driven by 76-year-old Ray Guffey of Stanton, who was traveling westbound on Highway 34. Glassinger then attempted to proceed through the intersection, causing the Equinox to strike the Buick Century on the front passenger side.
Glassinger was transported by ambulance to Montgomery County Memorial Hospital with suspected minor injuries.
Guffey declined transport to the hospital.
Both vehicles sustained severe damage and were towed from the scene.
Glassinger was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way.
