(Atlantic) Atlantic and Glenwood matchup tonight in a Hawkeye Ten Conference doubleheader basketball game. We will have coverage on KS 95.7 F.M.
In the girls’ matchup, both teams are looking to bounce back after losses earlier this week. Glenwood fell short to Council Bluffs, Abraham Lincoln, 58-39; the Trojans fell short to St. Albert, 49-45. The Trojans are 1-2, and Glenwood is 0-1.
Atlantic Head Coach Dan Vargason is pleased with the team’s defensive effort so far. The Trojans allowed 51 points against Treynor, 20 against Denison-Schleswig, and 49 to St. Albert.
Vargason says turnovers have been an issue for the Trojans through the first three games of the season. Coach Vargason says the team is averaging 20 turnovers per game.
Maggie McChesney, the 5’9 junior, is coming off a monster game against Abraham Lincoln on Tuesday. McChesney scored 26 of the team’s 39 points in the last outing.
Zoey Kirchhoff is off to an excellent start for the Trojans. The senior is averaging 11.67 points per game, including 4-8 from behind the three-point line, and 9-11 from the free throw line. Katrina Williams and Makenna Schroeder average just over 7 points.
