(Washington, DC) — The United States Postal Service is announcing plans to raise its shipping prices in the new year.
USPS filed a notice with the Postal Regulatory Commission for the adjustment and now customers can expect a six-point-six-percent increase for Priority Mail, five-point-one-percent for Priority Mail Express, seven-point-eight-percent for USPS Ground Advantage and six-percent for Parcel Select. The adjustments have been approved by the board of governors and will take effect on January 18th.
USPS said shipping service prices are set by market conditions, unlike mailing service prices, which are determined by the consumer price index.
