(Harlan) The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office released information early this morning on the arrest of two people following the investigation into the death of 32-year-old Theresa Kenkel.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office arrested Winston “Joe” Leal on Friday on a warrant for 1st Degree Murder – a Class A Felony.
Additionally, authorities arrested Ashley McWilliams with Accessory after the fact – a Class D Felony. Her bond was set at $50,000.
On Thursday, July 31, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office responded to 204 2nd Avenue in Earling for a welfare check.
According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office press release, based on information received, deputies entered the residence and located 32-year-old Theresa Kenkel deceased inside the home. Kenkel’s body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
