(Lyon County) One person was killed, and four others suffered injuries in a two-vehicle crash in Lyon County.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened on Thursday, July 31, at 2244 on Highway 182. Authorities identified the deceased as 90-year-old Stanley Kroese, of Sioux Center, Iowa.
According to the report, Kroese was driving a 2024 Chevrolet Blazer northbound on Highway 182 and slowing to turn into the driveway of 2244 Highway 182. Meanwhile, a northbound 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 39-year-old Jennifer Simpson, of Rock Valley, Iowa, collided with the rear of the Chevy Blazer.
Four others were injured in the crash. Canton Ambulance transported 84-year-old Joan Kroese to Avera Hospital in Sioux Falls. Jennifer Simpson was also taken by Canton Ambulance to Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls. A seven-year-old child was airlifted to Sanford by Avera Care Flight, and a nine-year-old child was transported to the same facility by Canton Ambulance.
The accident remains under investigation.
