Peter “Pete” Walter Bramman, the son of Henry and Helen (Boone) Bramman, was born May 29, 1951, in Hawthorne, CA. Pete died, February 3, 2025, near Hancock, IA, at the age of 73 years, 8 months, and 5 days.
Pete moved to Avoca, Iowa, at a young age and graduated from AvoHa High School in 1969. He attended Southwestern Community College in Creston, IA, where he was a member of the basketball team, and then went on to the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, IA. On May 23, 1971, he married Shona Sue Meyer.
Pete worked at the Avoca Water Department as plant manager and later at Regional Water as plant manager until his retirement in 2017. Pete loved watching his grandkids compete in their favorite sports, including wrestling, basketball, football, volleyball, and swimming. He was a lifelong Iowa Hawkeye fan and was an avid fisherman, making many trips to Canada.
Pete was preceded in death by his son Kris, his parents, and his brothers Joe and Danny.
He is survived by his wife Shona Bramman of Avoca, IA; daughter Brooklyn Christian and husband Travis of Avoca, IA; daughter-in-law Jamie Bramman of Oakland, IA; grandchildren: Kori, Davis, Kenna, and Dani; brother Hank Bramman (Peggy), sister -in-law Jenny Bramman of California; nieces and nephews Leslie Hershberger of Milford, NE, Joe Bramman of Oregon, Julie Bramman of California; and mother-in-law Marcy Jones and husband Bob. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
There will be no services at this time. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Pete’s name. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is assisting the family with arrangements.
