(Audubon) A Class 2A State Softball Tournament trip is on the line when Audubon and MVAOCOU square off in a Regional Final. The Rams are (20-11), and the Wheelers carry a (26-4) record into the game tonight.
Audubon Head Coach Andrea Schwery says the offense is coming around at the right time of the season. The Wheelers are hitting .280. Mattie Nielsen leads the team with a .356 batting average, Jordan Porsche has .350, and Riley Miller is batting .347.
Audubon Pitcher Riley Miller enters the contest with a 12-2 record, an impressive earned run average of 1.42, with 207 strikeouts and 26 walks in 123 innings of work.
When looking at MVAOCOU, Coach Schwery is impressed with their athleticism. The Rams are hitting .331 on the season, led by Reagan Seuntjens, who is hitting .377, Alex Wonder, who is hitting .366, and Makynlee Yockey, who is hitting .355.
Coach Schwery says getting off to a good start will be a key.
Ram’s pitcher Mya Goslar is 16-7 on the season with 116 strikeouts and 62 walks. MVAOCOU defeated Pocahontas Area 12-4 in the quarterfinals and Emmetsburg 4-1 in the semifinals. Audubon took out East Sac County, 9-0, and Ridge View, 6-0 in the Regional Semifinal.
