(Eugene, OR) – Janette Schraft concluded the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon, with a remarkable third-place finish in the steeplechase, securing First Team All-America honors.
This performance, alongside Maelle Porcher’s All-America recognition, contributed to the women’s team tying for 36th place with six points, their best outdoor finish since 2017. Notably, both the Iowa State men’s and women’s teams scored at both indoor and outdoor NCAA Championships in 2024, a feat not achieved since 1991.
Schraft’s outstanding race also earned her a spot in the U.S. Olympic Trials, where she achieved the automatic qualifying time. With a school-record-breaking performance, Schraft showcased her dominance in the event, setting the No. 21-ranked all-time collegiate performance. Additionally, her achievement marks her as the first ISU woman to earn multiple All-America honors.
As the 2024 season concludes, Iowa State athletes, including seven competing at the U.S. Olympic Trials, will now focus on their next challenge: pursuing spots on Olympic teams.
