(Azusa, CA) – Iowa State’s Cam Jones was able to crush the school record this weekend in the shot put. The junior was able to break the 43-year-old record with a shot put throw that went over 20 meters at the Jim Duncan Invite.
His throw marks #2 in the nation while throwing 65-9.5 and is the first in program history to break 20 meters. The previous record stood at 65-6 1/4 was held by John Scheetz and was set before the Big XII, when it was the Big Eight back in 1981. He ended up breaking the record on his third attempt at the meet. The Marion, Iowa native now holds the school record both indoors and outdoors for the weight throw.
Iowa State will return to action John McDonnell Invitational from April 19th through April 20th.
