(Des Moines) State Climatologist Justin Glisan reports that the strong El Nino pattern that has affected us since fall and early winter is starting to decrease. This is due to a cooling down of the temperature in the Pacific, which is affecting seasonal behavior.
Glisan also reports an increased chance of precipitation in March across the western three-quarters of Iowa. Additionally, the six-to-ten and eight-to-fourteen-day outlooks show high probabilities of warmer and wetter conditions.
There are a few chances of rainfall for the seven-day forecast, but nothing significant at the moment. Glisan hopes that the March outlooks will come to fruition.
