(Audubon, IA) – The Audubon Wheelers started off their season with an up-and-down week and now, they look to clean up their offense to play to their level. Head coach Darran Miller is looking to take this week as a challenge after dropping two of the first three games of the season.
Sophomore Austin Christensen has stood out as a force to reckon with in the rebounding game as he is second on the team in rebounds per game with six while averaging 6.3 points per game. He is a player who has adapted to his role and will only learn to get better on the floor.
The bullseye for Audubon this season has been Edward Miller as he is the leading scorer and rebounder with 12.3 points per game and 9.3 rebounds per game. Miller has been one of the top players for Audubon over the course of the last two years and coach Miller looks to keep him as the focal point of the offense.
Audubon’s guard play is the one thing that Coach Miller has focused on as of late. This is a team that needs success from their ball handlers and they can not be afraid to take it for themselves and go down to score.
Tonight, the Wheelers are taking on the Treynor Cardinals at home for their first game this week. Treynor has won every matchup dating back to December 13, 2016, when Audubon won 68-61. Treynor is led by Karson Elwood, Ethan Konz, and Jace Tams who all average over 16 points per game already this year. This will be a tough test for the Wheelers tonight.
Audubon hosts Treynor tonight at Audubon High School. The tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. KSOM 96.5 will be live with Zach Collins and Austin West on the call with the video live-stream on Western Iowa Today TV powered by Nishnanet, with the pregame show starting at 7:10 p.m.
