(Nevada) Two people are in custody concerning the death of a seven-month-old baby.
According to the Nevada, Iowa, Police Department press release, on June 11, 2023, at approximately 6:06 p.m., the Nevada Public Safety Department was made aware of a death involving a child in the City of Nevada.
Authorities launched an investigation to determine the events leading to the death. As a result of that investigation, Law Enforcement Officials requested arrest warrants on September 18, 2023, for 35-year-old Juan Angel Mortalvo Jr. and 23-year-old Sheyenne Nichole Shore. Both subjects are charged with 1st-degree murder and child endangerment causing death.
Montalvo and Shore are currently in custody in California for additional charges unrelated to this case. The pair will be extradited to Iowa to face these charges.
