KSOM’s New Sports Director Begins Duties Today

(Atlantic) Zach Collins takes over the reins as KSOM Sports Director Today.

Collins grew up in Kouts, Indiana, population of 3,200 in northern Indiana. He attended Valparaiso University, where he received his degree in Broadcast Communications. When he stepped on campus, Collins knew what career path he wanted to take and began working for the college radio station his freshman year.

Collins started his play-by-play career broadcasting soccer for the Valpo radio station, and when COVID hit, he added Volleyball to the schedule.

Collins’ play-by-play experience grew into covering the Valparaiso women’s basketball team.

Collins has lived in Indiana his entire life and looks forward to getting to know the coaches, student-athletes, and people in the area.

Zach Collins takes over the position held by Bennett Blake, who, for the past 13 years, did an outstanding job covering southwest Iowa Sports. Bennett recently resigned and made a career change to spend more time with his young family.
