(Des Moines) The price of regular unleaded gasoline continues to rise across Iowa.
According to AAA’s weekly fuel report released Wednesday, the statewide average for regular unleaded is now $3.80 per gallon. That is up 12 cents from last week and 89 cents higher than the same time last year.
The national average Wednesday was $4.06 per gallon, an increase of 17 cents from last week.
Iowa diesel prices also increased significantly, rising 32 cents this week to a statewide average of $4.85 per gallon. That compares to $3.57 per gallon one year ago. Iowa’s current diesel average is 33 cents below the national average of $5.18.
Crude oil prices also climbed sharply this week. West Texas Intermediate rose $8.06 per barrel to $86.76, while Brent crude increased $9.87 to $93.87 per barrel. One year ago, WTI was priced at $67.56 per barrel and Brent crude was $69.69.
Natural gas prices remained unchanged at the Henry Hub reporting site and are currently priced at $2.91 per million British thermal units.
