(Atlantic) Produce in the Park and the Cass County Fair are both reasons to visit Atlantic this Thursday, July 23. Produce in the Park encourages farmers market visitors to make July 23 a two-in-one fun day in Atlantic: traveling from the Atlantic City Park to the fairgrounds is only a short drive. Produce in the Park is held every Thursday from 4:30-6:30 PM in the Atlantic City Park (10 W. 7th St., Atlantic, IA 50022).
This week at the community farmers market, shoppers can expect summer favorite produce including sweet corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, and zucchini, as well as local meats (beef, pork, chicken, and lamb), local honey, farm-fresh eggs, various baked goods including both sourdough bread and desserts, and a variety of crafts and other non-food items, such as fresh flower bouquets, bath and body products, art, and more.
Additionally, food truck Hungry Spartan Pizza will serve delicious wood-fired pizza, and musician Jenna Nevs will be singing live for the duration of the July 23 farmers market. Produce in the Park is able to provide and promote a variety of community fun and local foods all summer long thanks to sponsors.
Produce in the Park is held every Thursday evening in the Atlantic City Park from 4:30–6:30 PM from June through September. All are welcome, and admission is free. The market accepts SNAP/EBT, SUN Bucks (Summer EBT available to children) and Double Up Food Bucks, which
provide two-for-one produce coupons for any produce purchased at the farmers market with a SNAP/EBT or SUN Bucks card. Recipients of SUN Bucks are reminded that the funds expire 122 days after distribution.
Produce in the Park continues to accept vendor and sponsor applications for summer markets in the Atlantic City Park. Applications can be completed online at www.ProduceInTheParkAtlanticIowa.com, and printed copies are available at the Atlantic Area Chamber of Commerce (102 Chestnut St., Atlantic, IA 50022). Produce in the Park welcomes
vendors selling handmade or homegrown products, including local foods and baked goods,
crafts, art, decorations, and plants.
