(Des Moines) If you’re considering landscaping, now is not the time to plant trees. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says waiting until September and October is the best time to plant saplings. DNR says the widespread drought in Iowa puts stress on the state’s foliage — trees included. The state department recommends Iowans take the summer months to plan for fall planting and reminds homeowners to water trees, young and mature alike, throughout the season.
