(Des Moines) Iowa officials warn residents about a vehicle sale scam rising in popularity in the state. The Iowa Department of Transportation and Attorney General Brenna Bird says that scammers are impersonating Petty Motors, Inc., a car dealership in Knoxville. They ask anyone who completed a transaction with Petty Motors to verify with the dealership. Iowans who need to report a fraudulent sale are asked to contact the DOT’s Bureau of Investigation & Identity Protection or the attorney general’s office.
