(Atlantic) The Atlantic girl’s track team captured the team title at Monday’s Bruce Henderson Invitational Track Meet in Atlantic. The Trojans won the title with 138 points, and Glenwood finished second with 121.20.
The Trojans led Glenwood 118 to 108.20, with two events remaining, and clinched the title with a first-place finish in the 4×100 Meter Relay. Hailey Huffman, Lila Wiederstein, Nicole Middents, and Jayci Reed carried for the Trojans. Glenwood finished second. The Trojans polished off the meet with a victory in the 4×400 in a time of 4:12.50. The baton carriers were Nicole Middents, Mariah Huffman, Chloe Mullenix, and Ava Rush.
The 800 Sprint Medley Relay gave Atlantic a good start to the meet with a first-place finish in a time of (1:53.82). The baton carriers were Nicole Middents, Jayce Reed, Chloe Mullenix, and Ava Rush (1:53.82). Abby Smith, Mariah Huffman, Claire Wiederstein, and Claire Pellett led the Trojans to a first-place finish in the 4×800 Meter Relay in 10:30.06, and the Shuttle Hurdle Team of Chloe Mullenix, Adler Bruce, Morgan Botos, and Jayci Reed kept the moment going with a top finish in a time of 1:10.86. Rush earned gold in the 400 Meters in 1:00.08, and Morgan Botos and Chloe Mullenix claimed valuable points for Atlantic with a one-two finish in the 400 Meter Hurdles in 1:10.24 and 1:12.22, respectively. Atlantic finished second in the Distance Medley Relay with Hailey Huffman, Morgan Botos, Nicole Middents, and Claire Pellett in 4:29.85. Pellett finished second in 1500 in 5:14.24.
Glenwood scored first place finishes with Allison Koontz in the 100 Meters in a time of 12.74. The Rams scored 18 points in the 200 Meters with a one-two finish by Danika Arnold and Allison Koontz. Arnold ran 26.64, and Koontz clocked 27.14.
For Harlan, Lindsey Sonderman claimed first place in the 3000 at 11:10.55. St. Albert won the Distance Medley Relay in 4:28.89 with Lydia Sherrill, Madi Walter, Ellie Monahan, and Lili Denton on the carry. Denton picked up another win for the Saints in the 1500 Meters in a time of 5:07.83. Jordyn Matiyow and Elise Thramer of Lewis Central finished one-two in the Shot Put with throws of 36-06.25 and 34.11.00. Thramer heaved the discus 108-00 for the win.
Council Bluffs, Abraham Lincoln won the 4×200 Meter Relay in a time of 1:51.97 with Ava Watkins, Hutson Rau, Aubrey Sandbothe, and Abby LaSale. Chloe Denton of Shenandoah won the 100 Meter Hurdles in 15.36. Mayson Hartley, of Clarinda, won the 800 Meters in 2:21.69. Avah Underwood of St. Albert won the High Jump, clearing 5-00.00, and Aubrey Sandbothe of Council Bluffs, Abraham Lincoln, won the Long Jump with a 17-01.00 effort.
