(Atlantic) Atlantic senior Brenden Casey is signing to play football at Morningside University this fall. Casey, a first-team Class 3A All-District Offensive line selection, played a big part in Atlantic’s 5-4 season this past fall. Brenden has also been selected to play in the annual Shrine Bowl All-Star Football Game on July 22 at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls.
Casey, a state wrestling qualifier, says he was torn between playing football or wrestling at Morningside.
Casey played both ways for the Trojans and admitted defense is probably where he has the best chance to earn a spot.
He notes hard work is what he is taking away from his experience on the wrestling mat and the football field.
Atlantic Head Coach Joe Brummer says Morningside University has a great program.
Brenden Casey, who received the Hawkeye Ten Conference Character award, plans to study either Biology to become a Zoologist or Physical Therapy.
