(Audubon, IA) — On Monday, Exira EHK Audubon will play its first round state softball tournament game against Edgewood Colesburg, coverage on KSOM.
This is the third season of Exira EHK and Audubon coming together to play softball and they have been to three regional finals and two state tourneys. Junior Maya King has scored 11 runs and has played some in field and she says everybody has really made the union work
Junior Taryn Petersen is hitting .560, 5 HR, 23 RBI and has 44 stolen bases and bats in the leadoff spot. She says this year’s team is much younger than the state team two years ago that had six seniors — Petersen was a freshman then but the biggest similarity is their team chemistry is strong
Junior Riley Miller has a 17-4 record pitching with a 1.59 ERA but she is also hitting .449 with 1 HR and 34 RBI. She says that Coach Petersen tries to keep things simple when it comes to hitting
Exira EHK Audubon is the top seed in Class 1A and they battle the Vikings of Ed Co in the first round on Monday; first pitch is at Noon, coverage on 96.5 FM KSOM. Tune in at 10:00 am for Meet the Spartans — interviews with the entire team on KSOM.
