(Atlantic) Atlantic knocked down 12 three-point shots, and the Trojans topped Clarinda 74-51 in a Hawkeye Ten Conference Boy’s basketball game at Atlantic on Tuesday night.
Colton Rasmussen scored 24 points, and Carter Pellett finished the night with 23 points. Rasmussen knocked down six three-point baskets, and Pellett splashed in five from long-range. Jackson McLaren scored eight points, Michael Hotze, five, Kinnick Juhl and Caden Andersen four points, and Nolan Waters and Jayden Proehl finished the game with three.
Atlantic Head Coach Derek Hall credits the win to “team play.”
The Trojans came at hot with four three points shots in the first quarter and grabbed a 19-11 lead. Rasmussen and Pellett sparked the offense with two long-range buckets each. The Cardinals buttoned up the defense in the second quarter, held the Trojans to 13-points, and scored 12 to come within nine at the break, 32-23.
Atlantic broke away in the final stanza outscoring the Cardinals 24-13 for a 74-51 final.
Tayden Brown led Clarinda with 17-points, Wyatt Schmidt, 13, Adam Johnson, 8, Isaac Jones, 5, Ethan McAndrews, Creighton Tuzzio, four, Justus Fine, and Kade Engstrand one each.
Atlantic extends its record to 4-7 and travels to Harlan on Friday night. Clarinda falls to 4-7 and hosts Sidney on Thursday.
