(Hamburg) One person suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash in Hamburg.
The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened Sunday at 7:30 p.m. in the 1900 block of Park Street in Hamburg.
Deputies responded to that location for a report of a possible intoxicated female driving recklessly in the churchyard.
The vehicle, a 1998 Dodge Dakota, driven by 32-year old Ashley Frost of Hamburg, Iowa, fled the scene before deputies’ arrival. Witnesses advised the car was traveling at an extremely high speed southbound on Washington Street at E Street, where it collided with a southbound 2021 Dodge Ram, operated by Charles Mincer of Lake Toxaway, North Carolina. Frost’s vehicle then left the roadway, entering a ditch at Washington and D Street.
Mincer and his passenger were treated and released at the scene. Rescue crews transported Frost to Grape Community Hospital with serious injuries.
Alcohol and speed were factors in the accident, and multiple charges are pending.
The Hamburg and Riverton Fire and Rescue Departments and Lifenet assisted the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
