(Elk Horn) The Exira-EHK School Board has approved some sharing agreements.
Exira-EHK and IKM-Manning will share an elementary music teacher while Exira-EHK will share a guidance counselor with Coon Rapids-Bayard. Superintendent Trevor Miller says, “A couple of good opportunities to be creative so our staff gets filled and we meet accreditation. We have to get creative on finding staff. We have a few other openings and there’s not a lot of applicants out there.”
The board approved the school calendar. Miller says the biggest difference is moving professional development from every Wednesday to every other Thursday. “We went back to Thursday next year so we’d have our AEA consultants available. We have to fight for our resources. That’s what the team decided to do. We decided every other week that way the kids are in school more. We are trying to accelerate the gap and have our students learn more and do better.”
School will start on the 23rd of August with a dismissal date on May 23rd.
