(Exira) Three departments were called to a house fire in Exira on Saturday afternoon.
The home was located at 104 East South Street. Exira Assistant Fire Chief Mike Bintner says the call came in around 3:18 p.m. The Exira and Brayton Fire Departments each responed as part of a mutual aid agreement and the Audubon Fire Department was called in later. “Upon arrival the house was fully engulfed in flames. We made an exterior attack. We did put out a request for the Audubon Fire Department to help us with man power, a tanker truck, and a pumper truck.”
There were no injuries. “There were two people in the house that got out safely.” Bintner says, “Medical personnel checked them out, but they refused transport. They said they were both ok.”
The home is a total loss. A cause has not yet been determined.
