(Atlantic). Many people have driven or walked by, peering in the window at 10 W. 4th Street in Atlantic, wondering, who is that man behind the brush, creating magnificent works of art. That man Timothy Pross will unveil his wildlife and nature works of art to the public for the first time next month.
Pross, along with his teacher, discovered his talents at a very young age.
Pross earned a degree in architecture and practiced for a while before he became inspired by the work of Robert Bateman at one of Bateman’s shows. Pross says Bateman is a nationally known artist who arguably could be one of the best in the world.
So, Tim Pross went home and began researching everything Bateman was using and began painting. He was close to finishing one of his projects when he faced significant setbacks. Pross fell out of a tree, separating three ribs from his sternum, and five days later suffered a back injury in a head-on car crash.
Pross continued designing houses in Des Moines, all over the Midwest, and the west coast, when he and his wife Anne moved back to Tim’s hometown Atlantic. He found a chiropractor who used techniques to reduce his pain; he began lifting weights to strengthen his back, and thus made him feel good enough to start painting again.
Kipp Harris says Pross’s art speaks for itself.
Harris isn’t the only one to notice Pross’s talent.
Or there is the instance in Des Moines where he took some of his original artworks to a lady to scan and put them into print form.
For the first time, the public will celebrate the wildlife and nature art of Tim Pross on Saturday, December 11, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Cass County Community Center at 805 Chestnut Street in Atlantic. The show features original works of art, plus the debut of his fine art prints, available for purchase.
