(Atlantic) A new jury trial date has been tentatively set in the State of Iowa vs Alison Dorsey case.
On November 4th, a mistrial was declared after the jury was deadlocked on a decision. Dorsey was on trial for the death of an infant that was in her care in October 2019. The State charged Dorsey with First Degree Murder and Child Endangerment Resulting in Death.
The jury trial has been set for January 31, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. The state has filed a motion for change of venue, but the location is unknown at this time.
Meanwhile, Dorsey’s Attorney Deshawne Bird-Sell entered a motion to withdraw counsel and an order approving withdrawal of counsel was entered by Judge Amy Zacharias.
When contacted by KSOM/KS95 News Bird-Sell confirmed she has withdrawn counsel, but would not comment on the reason for withdrawing.
