Aaron Ihnken, 34, of Atlantic, Iowa, died Wednesday, May 5, 2021.
Aaron Lee Ihnken was born on April 28, 1987, in Atlantic, Iowa, the son of Brian Lee and Leisha Jon (Johnson) Ihnken. As a youngster he was always happy and loved animals; dogs being his favorite. His dad remembers always being surprised at what a good shot he was; a shot gun or rifle it didn’t matter—he was right on target.
He enjoyed working out and exercised any chance he got. Aaron loved being outside but was also content inside gaming, something that started when he was a kid with PAC- MAN and Mario Bros.
Aaron had recently started working at Olsen’s BP as a cook. Many shared with him that he was doing a great job and they appreciated that he was so personable. This comes as no surprise to his family as they always felt he was easy to get along with and fit in anywhere because of his ability to have a conversation with anyone he met. Aaron had a big heart, sometimes too big.
Aaron is survived by his dad, Brian Ihnken of Atlantic; daughter, Lanie Sue; grandma, Lois Ihnken of Atlantic; grandpa, W.L. “John” Johnson of Elk Horn; half-brother, John Cannon; aunts and uncles, Scott (LuAnn) Ihnken of Atlantic, Sheila Bitner of Lorah, Reverend Mike (Carolyn) Miller, and Jan Smith; and many cousins.
He is preceded in death by his mom, Leisha Smith; grandpa, Kenneth Ihnken; and grandma, Nancy Johnson.
A Celebration of Life visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at Roland Funeral Home and conclude with a prayer service at 6:45 p.m.
GOODBYE’S ARE NOT FOREVER, THEY ARE NOT THE END, IT SIMPLY MEANS, “I’LL SEE YA LATER,” UNTIL ME MEET AGAIN.
